Committees
Account
Retention Committee - assists the Chamber in
the retention of renewing members and the
resolution of accounts receivable.
Agribusiness Committee
- addresses agriculture-related
issues, encourages good working relationships
and understanding between rural and urban
constituents, and develops events that promote
and encourage agricultural awareness. The
committee meets monthly year-round except for
December.
Annual
Meeting
Committee -
coordinates activities for an informational and
entertaining annual meeting, which appeals to
the entire membership.
ATHENA™
Awards Committee - solicits nominations and
selects the ATHENA™ Award recipient. Assists in
planning the Award Luncheon held in
February. Committee meets fall and winter only.
Brown Bag Workshops Committee
- plans the monthly selection of topics and
obtains the speakers for the workshops, which
are meant to provide Chamber members with timely
information that is applicable to their everyday
lives.
Chamber
Ambassadors -
serve as "goodwill messengers" for the Chamber,
welcoming new members and making retention calls
throughout the year.
East Central Illinois
Business and Consumer Expo - plans and
co-ordinates all the activities involved in this
one-day expo held at the Assembly Hall in the
spring. Committee meets winter through spring.
Government
Council - monitors and
works with the cities of Champaign, Urbana and
Savoy as well as Champaign County Board, state
of Illinois and the U.S. government on a variety
of community and business issues. Committee
meets monthly year-round.
High Tech
Edge
Executive Steering Committee - business
partners and educators provide oversight and
direction for the High Tech Edge
program. Several subcommittees also support this
program. Committee meets monthly.
Leadership Institute Committee -
plans and conducts program that gives
participants the opportunity to identify their
strengths as leaders, and provides an
understanding of the building blocks of
leadership within businesses and organizations.
Planning
and Infrastructure Committee - encourages
smart growth through monitoring and evaluating
municipal planning and the development of
infrastructure. Infrastructure includes, but is
not limited to, air, rail, and other forms of
surface transportation, roadways, sewer, and
utilities. Committee meets every other month.
Summer
Swing Committee -
plans and conducts annual golf outing,
"Corporate Challenge", and picnic for Chamber
members and their guests. Committee meets
January-June.
Workforce
Development Committee - addresses the
needs of businesses to assist in developing a
qualified workforce. Provides information
regarding training resources in the community.
Committee meets monthly year-round.
YPN Committee - Plans
the activities for the Young Professionals
Network. Committee meets randomly throughout the
year.
