The ATHENA Young Professional Award® actively supports and celebrates the ATHENA mission of supporting, developing and honoring women leaders, inspiring women to achieve their full potential - creating balance in leadership worldwide. The ATHENA Young Professional Award® honors emerging leaders who strive toward the highest levels of personal and professional accomplishment, who excel in their chosen field, devote time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and serve as a role model or mentor for other women. Nominations are open to male or female residents between the ages of 25-35 who reside in Champaign County.
ATHENA Young Professional Award® nominees must meet each of three specific criteria:
• An emerging leader who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in his or her business or profession;
• Positively impacts the quality of life for others in the community;
• Serves as a role model for young women personally and professionally.
A selection committee consisting of previous ATHENA Award® Recipients and past ATHENA Young Professional Award® recipients and representatives from other Illinois Chambers of Commerce will review all nomination forms and select the ATHENA Young Professional Award® recipient.
The ATHENA Young Professional Award® is sponsored by past recipients of the ATHENA Award®. The ATHENA Award® Program is sponsored by the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce and Spherion.
Nominations are due back to the Chamber by Friday, February 26 by 3:00 p.m. Late nominations will not be considered. Our intention is to celebrate the 2021 ATHENA Award® Recipient at an in-person event in May. Details of such event are subject to change given any forthcoming CDC and public health guidelines or mitigation measures.
