Family recreational facilities, an annual horse show, the Lucky Foot Festival and Ranae Helpingstine Memorial Car Show highlight the family-friendly atmosphere in this town of 1,983 residents. Located 15 miles north of Champaign and 115 miles south of Chicago, the community is served by the Fisher Community Unit School District. There’s an enrollment of 601 students in the K-6, junior high and senior
high schools. Annual events include the Lucky Foot Festival, first organized in 2017 by the Fisher Area Business Association. The daylong event includes music, a car show and activities for people of all ages. Dating back to 1941, the Fisher Community Fair and Horse Show is a weeklong event that attracts thousands of people each July. Community amenities include Mary Lammie Park, featuring two baseball
diamonds, two soccer fields, a playground and pavilion; three horse stables; and the Fisher High School Fitness Center/Weight Room, which is free to residents.
